The History of the Dynamos

Club History

Killamarsh Dynamos was formed in 1981 by Jim Towns and Ray Godber. Originally there were two teams, under 10's and under 12's. The under 10's were managed by Ray and the under 12's by Jim. During the late eighties more age groups were added until eventually there were teams from under 10's to under 16's.

The nineties saw the introduction of firstly an under 9's team and eventually an under 8's team as the lower age groups of the junior leagues became more and more popular.

Soccer School

In the year 2000 a soccer school was established which has gone from strength to strength. Catering for children as young as four, this offers an excellent method of introducing young boys and girls to the basic techniques involved in football, it promotes team spirit and develops the social skills required in general life.

This is achieved in an informal environment where the emphasis is on letting the youngsters have fun!

In 2002 Killamarsh Dynamos achieved the FA Charter Standard which was followed by the Charter Standard Development Award This means that we promote the positive values involved in football participation, ensuring a high standard in playing watching and coaching.

In the last three years we have added an under 7's team who play friendly games against other youngsters in the area. This has proved to be very successful.

Many of the children playing in those first teams now have children of their own who play for current Dynamo's teams - second generation Dynamos!
